What is the Side By Side Share Security Deposit?

The Security Deposit is a temporary hold on your card before your rental starts. It’s not an actual charge — just a precaution to cover any potential damages or ancillary charges, such as cleaning fees, re-fueling, etc.

If all goes well, the hold is released shortly after your rental ends.

Security Deposit Hold

  • Before Your Trip: We’ll place a security deposit hold (not a charge) for $1,000 on your card 24 hours before your booking starts.
  • After Your Trip: If no claims are filed, the hold is released 48 hours after your rental ends.
  • Last-Minute Bookings: If your booking is accepted less than 48 hours before the start time, the deposit hold is authorized when you pay.

Collected Only If Necessary

  • The deposit is only collected if the owner files a claim for damages or incidental costs after your rental.

If a Claim Gets Filed

  • The security deposit will remain on hold until the claim is resolved.
  • Don’t worry – Side By Side Share works with both renters and owners to ensure claims are valid and everything is fair.
  • All claims to a security deposit that are approved are subject to a 3.95% payment processing fee.

Risk Prevention Tips

  • Drive safe, avoid sharp turns, do your best to stay on trails, and use precaution.
  • Please complete the check-in and check-out process with the owner to verify the vehicle's condition and detail any damages that took place during the booking.
