UTV Trail & Park Suggestions Near St. George

sand hollow state park

Most Popular UTV Destination: Sand Hollow State Park

Sand Hollow State Park (home to Sand Mountain OHV Area) is St. George’s premier UTV hub with 15,000+ acres of red dunes and trails. It boasts 360° desert panoramas, a 1,322-acre reservoir for post-ride cool-offs, direct dune access from campground sites, and something for every riding level. Popular trails include Wayne’s World OHV Trail (3.2 miles): Fantastic for beginners, scenic views of Sand Mountain and Red Gate; Fault Line OHV Trail (5.19 miles): Slightly more challenging climbs and descents; and Sand Hollow Reservoir OHV Trail (12 miles): A mix of sandy washes and moderate obstacles; good for riders who want a bit more adventure without extreme rock-crawling.

Warner Valley

Located just east of St. George near Hurricane, Warner Valley offers wide, sandy trails and open desert scenery perfect for new off-roaders or laid-back exploration. The Warner Valley OHV Trail (~40 miles, out-and-back) features mostly flat terrain with gentle grades. Keep an eye out for the dinosaur track site, a fun historical stop along the way.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

About an hour east of St. George, Coral Pink Sand Dunes offers 1,200+ acres of soft, salmon-hued dunes open to OHVs. It’s an off-roader’s playground with rolling sand hills and stunning desert backdrops.

Honeymoon Pack Trail

A historically significant wagon route once traveled by newlywed settlers. Now an easy out-and-back path shared with hikers, this 14.1 mile adventure is ideal for slower-paced scenic rides.

UTV camping near st. george

Local Campgrounds and Cabins

After a day on the trails, you’ll find plenty of UTV-friendly lodging near St. George – ranging from campground sites at Sand Hollow State Park (complete with direct dune access) to comfortable condos at Sand Hollow Resort, which offers easy trail connections. Coral Pink Sand Dunes Campground caters to riders who want dunes right by their tent or RV, while private RV parks in Hurricane and St. George provide full hookups (and often allow trailers). Dispersed camping on BLM land is also an option for a more rustic, budget-friendly experience; just come prepared with your own water, power, and respect for local guidelines. If you’d rather stay indoors, nearby hotels or vacation rentals in Hurricane, La Verkin, or St. George usually have space for trailers.

OHV Rules and Regulations

St. George is very welcoming to UTV renters, but local and state rules still apply. If you’re renting from a local owner on our site, the vehicle should already meet Utah’s registration and equipment standards – so no extra permits are needed on your part. At Side by Side Share, the minimum driver age is 25 – no exceptions. If you have under-18 passengers, state law requires them to wear helmets; but we strongly recommend helmets for all riders. When hitting the dunes at places like Sand Hollow or Coral Pink, be sure your vehicle has a bright orange whip flag mounted at least eight feet above the ground and seat belts are a must for everyone. Finally, ride only on designated OHV trails – wilderness areas and national parks like Zion are off-limits to motorized vehicles. By respecting these rules, you’ll help preserve the trails and ensure a safe, fun adventure for all.
